The gubernatorial flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and leading political figure in Enugu State, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, joined family members, political associates, community leaders, and mourners at the burial ceremony of Late Chief Hon. Michael Okonkwo Ugwu in Amokwu Affa, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The burial ceremony attracted dignitaries from across Enugu State and beyond, reflecting the late Chief Ugwu's contributions to his community and public service. Chief Nnaji's presence at the event was widely regarded as a demonstration of solidarity with the bereaved family and the people of Affa.

The visit was facilitated by former Member representing Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Dennis Oguerinwa Amadi, who received Chief Nnaji in company of other notable dignitaries and led him through key areas of the community during the burial activities.

Speaking during interactions with mammoth crowd of stakeholders and residents, Chief Nnaji reportedly expressed admiration for Affa's vast land resources and strategic location, noting that the community possesses significant potential for the establishment of major government institutions and development projects capable of stimulating economic growth and creating employment opportunities for the people.

The former minister's observations came amid discussions on the developmental prospects of the community and the need for increased government presence in the area. Community leaders highlighted Affa's long-standing aspirations for greater infrastructural development and the establishment of federal and state institutions.

Also discussed during the visit were previous legislative efforts by Rt. Hon. Dr. Dennis Oguerinwa Amadi towards the establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture in Affa, a proposal many stakeholders believe would significantly transform the socio-economic fortunes of the community.

Residents and political stakeholders who witnessed the visit described Chief Nnaji's attendance as a significant gesture, noting that such engagements provide opportunities for leaders to better understand the developmental needs and potentials of rural communities.

The burial ceremony provided a platform for interactions among political leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, and community stakeholders, with many expressing optimism that stronger relationships between public office holders and grassroots communities would accelerate development across the area.

As prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of Late Chief Hon. Michael Okonkwo Ugwu, tributes poured in celebrating his life of service, leadership, and commitment to the progress of his community.

Chief Nnaji's participation in the funeral rites underscored the importance of maintaining close ties with communities across Enugu State while reaffirming the role of engagement and dialogue in advancing development and strengthening social bonds among the people.
