Chief Uche Nnaji Graces Funeral of Prof. Bernard Odoh’s Mother in Ebonyi

The former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, on Thursday, joined family members, friends, and well-wishers to bid a final farewell to the late matriarch, Mrs. Maria Nweke Odoh, mother of Professor Bernard I. Odoh, former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Ebonyi State.

The solemn burial ceremony took place at Ishioffia Village, Omege, Umuezeokoha, in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, drawing dignitaries from across the region who gathered to honour the life and legacy of the deceased.

Chief Nnaji, who was accompanied by notable personalities including, Hon. Vitus Okechi, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Enugu State, Dr Barr Nestor Ezeme, alongside other associates, described the late Mrs. Odoh as a virtuous woman whose life was marked by service, resilience, and dedication to family and community.

Speaking briefly at the event, Chief Nnaji extended his heartfelt condolences to Professor Bernard Odoh and the entire Odoh family, urging them to take solace in the impactful life their mother lived and the enduring values she instilled in her children.

Other top dignitaries in attendance include, Prof Martins Nnanyelugo Ikemuonso, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State and a host of others.

The funeral mass, held at St. Jude Catholic Church, Omege, was attended by a large congregation of mourners, including political leaders, academics, community stakeholders, and traditional rulers. The ceremony was followed by interment at the family compound and a reception in honour of guests.

Professor Bernard Odoh, a respected academic and former SSG of Ebonyi State, expressed deep appreciation to all who came to sympathize with the family, noting that their presence and support were a great source of comfort during the period of mourning.

The event was marked by tributes, prayers, and reflections on a life well spent, as attendees celebrated the legacy of a woman remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
