Tinubu Appoints Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Foreign Affairs Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Her appointment follows the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, is expected to spearhead Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements at a time the federal government is intensifying efforts to strengthen international partnerships and reposition its foreign policy.

In a related development, President Tinubu has nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Enikanolaiye, a seasoned career diplomat, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. He has also held key positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Permanent Secretary, with diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

According to the Presidency, the appointments are part of broader efforts to enhance Nigeria’s foreign policy framework for improved efficiency and strategic global engagement.

President Tinubu charged the new appointees to promote Nigeria’s national interests, advance economic diplomacy, and ensure the protection and welfare of Nigerian citizens both at home and abroad.
