Tension is reportedly mounting in Akpawfu Community, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, following allegations that the Chairman of Akpawfu/Ishienu Amagunze Ward of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Chidi Animba Emmanuel, has become the target of threats over recent political developments within the party.

Hon. Animba has raised an alarm over what he described as alleged threats to his life, claiming that certain individuals have continued to intimidate and harass him in the aftermath of the PDP's suspension of an Akpawfu-born party member who contested and lost in the party's last governorship primary election in Enugu State.

The development has reportedly generated concern among party faithful and residents of the community, particularly following claims that members of the ward chairman's family have also become targets of intimidation.

Most disturbing, according to sources close to the family, are allegations that Hon. Animba's elderly blind mother and other relatives residing in Akpawfu have equally been subjected to threats, creating anxiety among family members and supporters.

Speaking on the matter, concerned stakeholders described the situation as unfortunate and called on security agencies and relevant authorities to urgently investigate the allegations and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

It was gathered that the matter has already been reported to various organs of the Peoples Democratic Party, including the state leadership and the party's National Headquarters in Abuja. Party authorities have reportedly been notified and urged to take immediate steps to prevent any escalation of the situation.

Political observers have noted that while internal party disagreements and disciplinary measures are common features of democratic politics, such issues should be addressed through established constitutional and legal channels rather than through intimidation, threats, or actions capable of endangering lives.

As concerns continue to grow, supporters of the ward chairman are calling on security agencies to closely monitor developments and provide adequate protection to Hon. Chidi Animba Emmanuel, his family members, and other stakeholders to preserve peace and stability in the community.
